The American Association of Critical Care Nurses recognizes UNC's Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU), and the Surgery Intensive Care Unit (SICU) for representing extraordinary commitment to high-quality critical care standards and dedication to the exceptional care of patients and their families. Only 315 of the estimated 6,000 intensive care units in the United States have earned this award.

NCQA Diabetes Physician Recognition Program (DPRP)

The UNC Internal Medicine Clinic, Family Medicine Clinic, Division of Endocrinology and five physicians in our community-based practices have been awarded Recognition by the National Committee for Quality Assurance DPRP. NCQA, in partnership with the American Diabetes Association, developed the DPRP, to recognize physicians who have met standards demonstrating delivery of high-quality care to patients with diabetes.
