Prenatal Care Services
UNC Family Medicine offers alternatives for your prenatal care. You can choose between a traditional care model, where you will have individual visits with each provider or a focused prenatal care model, where an uncomplicated pregnancy allows for fewer prenatal care visits to better accommodate your busy schedule.
Standard Prenatal Care
Mothers have one-on-one visits with their primary physician for monthly visits during their first two trimesters and then meet the other two physicians on their birth team during the final weeks.
Focused Care
Evidence tells us that appointments every six weeks instead of four weeks for the first two trimesters is safe. The option is available to you.
Ongoing Education
Lamaze classes, pregnancy and parenting classes, including breastfeeding preparation visits, are offered to all parents. We also offer a lending library.
