A Personalized Approach to Care

At UNC Medical Center, you’re always at the center of care. Your surgeon will provide you with a treatment plan that’s tailored to you and backed by the expertise, resources and groundbreaking techniques available only at an academic medical center. You’ll start with a comprehensive evaluation that allows us to get to know you and your family, learn about your medical condition, and ask about your treatment goals and health care wishes. You’ll find immediate support from every member of our team. And we’ll stay with you long after your surgery to provide expert follow-up care.

It often is helpful to bring a family member or friend with you to your first visit as another "pair of ears" to listen to the information shared and responses to your questions by our doctors and nurses. Many patients also bring along a notebook to jot down notes that will help them recall important points in the conversation or special instructions once they have left the office.
