Prepared Childbirth Classes
The Prepared Childbirth Classes at the N.C. Women's Hospital at UNC Medical Center will help you prepare physically and mentally for labor. Whether you're a first-time parent or need a refresher, these courses can help you feel ready for labor and delivery.
Due to the rapidly evolving situation with COVID-19, we are postponing all of our in-person Prepared Childbirth Classes until further notice. We will continue to offer Online learning options and will try to expand these as we move forward. You may contact us at Stork@unchealth.unc.edu. Thank you for your understanding.
Prepared Childbirth
Classes focus on the normal birth process with emphasis on how mother and partner or labor support person can work together to have a healthy, positive experience. Of course you can take this class at any time during pregnancy, but we recommend that you register when the mother is between 12 and 20 weeks pregnant and plan to start the class between 20 and 27 weeks. We offer 12 hours of instruction with different class schedules, some last four weeks and others two weeks. 20% discount with Medicaid, 10% discount for UNC employees/students
