Infectious Diseases Clinic, HIV Focus
Rotation Description:
The ambulatory care infectious diseases rotation provides training in the area of adult infectious diseases and ambulatory care medicine through a multidisciplinary approach in the Infectious Diseases Clinic. Patients seen in the ID Clinic are managed by a variety of providers including Attending ID Physicians, ID Physician Fellows, Mid-Level Providers, and Clinical Pharmacist Practitioners.
HIV/Hepatitis C: The resident receives training focused on the medications used to treat HIV and Hepatitis C including mechanism of action, common adverse drug reactions and side effects, and drug-drug interactions. The resident will be involved in engagement and retention of care by providing education, adherence counseling, and recommendations for antiretroviral therapy and drug-drug interactions.
OPAT: The resident will focus on pharmacotherapy of infectious disease through participation on the OPAT Team. The resident will be responsible for monitoring weekly safety labs, performing pharmacokinetics and dose adjustments of antimicrobial therapy when indicated, and providing recommendations for alternative therapy if ADRs occur.
