Ambulatory Care, Chronic Pain Management

Rotation Description:

UNC Hospitals Pain Management Clinic provides specialized care to patients with chronic pain and is committed to helping patients improve their quality of life and ability to function using a multi-disciplinary approach.  In this pharmacist-led ambulatory care clinic, residents will conduct patient interviews and obtain medication histories, monitor current therapy, recommend evidence-based medication regimens and anticipate and identify medication-related problems.  Optimizing nonopioid pharmacologic therapy, safe opioid prescribing and strategies to mitigate opioid related harms are emphasized.  Activities also comprise of educating patients and providing drug information to patients and healthcare professionals.
