Rotation Description
This rotation encompasses direct patient care primarily at UNC Hospitals Nephrology Clinic at Eastowne in addition to half-days in Heart & Vascular and Endocrinology clinics. These clinics are staffed by a collaborative group of physicians, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, fellows, nutritionists, and support personnel. As the prevalence of metabolic syndrome continues to increase and is associated with increased risk for cardiovascular and renal disease and all-cause mortality, the co-management of these diseases states is imperative. Learners will have the opportunity to manage diseases such as chronic kidney disease, heart failure, hypertension, weight management, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and ASCVD prevention. Learners are expected to actively participate in patient care, drug information queries, and administrative responsibilities
