Rotation Title
Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Surgery
Rotation Description:
During this rotation experience, residents will be exposed to patients with advanced decompensated heart failure, left-ventricular assist devices (LVAD), heart transplants, as well as cardiac surgery patients along the spectrum of care (including coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), valve surgery, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), amongst other cardiac surgery procedures.
Throughout the rotation, learners will expand their clinical knowledge and refine their clinical decision-making skills. They will learn to function as an integral member of the multidisciplinary heart failure team while utilizing clinical guidelines and primary literature into patient care. The learner will participate in activities including development of safe and effective medication plans, transitions of care planning, and patient counseling.
