Personal
I started as the neurology clinical pharmacist in 2020 after completing my PGY-2. I love neurology because I am always learning something new and I think it has a perfect blend of medicine and psychiatry. In my free time, I love to read (shout out to Goodreads), travel, practice amateur photography, and hang out with my husband and my dog, a 4-year-old Vizsla-Weimaraner mix, named Glory.
Rotation Title
Inpatient Neurology
Rotation Description:
The inpatient neurology one month rotation at UNC Medical Center is designed to provide the resident the opportunity to develop skills in the management of neurologic conditions including, but not limited to, seizures, acute ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, autoimmune encephalitis, myasthenia gravis, multiple sclerosis, meningitis, and acute/chronic inflammatory demyelinating processes. Other common disease states learners will be exposed to include depression, hospital delirium and agitation, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, sleep disturbances, migraines, atrial fibrillation, hypertension, diabetes, heart failure, pneumonia, urinary tract infections and bloodstream infections. Psychiatric disorders are common in neurologic conditions, especially in epilepsy, stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, migraines, and dementia, so understanding both neurologic and psychiatric disease states will allow residents to provide more comprehensive care to their patients in the future. The resident will participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds as well as provide order verification, patient counseling and transitions of care.
