Rotation Description:
UNC Hospitals Youth Behavioral Health (YBH) is a 54-bed, inpatient psychiatric facility in Butner, NC offering mental health care for children, teens, and late adolescents. It is one of the few facilities in the state offering care for pediatric patients with acute psychiatric conditions and co-occurring intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) or substance use disorder.
The Youth Behavioral Health Operations Management rotation is a one-month long experience focusing on management of operational and clinical pharmacy services within a locked psychiatric facility that is part of a larger academic health system. This experience focuses on developing leadership skills, engaging with human resources, managing financial and productivity metrics, performance improvement, strategic planning, policy and standard work development, medication safety, and project management. At the end of this rotation, the learner should have a deeper understanding of the skill set required to lead a team and to maintain a pharmacy practice within a standalone inpatient hospital location.
