Rotation Title
Pharmacy Benefit Medication Assistance Program (MAP) Leadership
Rotation Description:
This rotation offers residents a comprehensive view of the leadership and strategic functions involved in managing a medication access team at UNC Health. The primary objectives include supporting the MAP team responsible for prior authorizations, appeals, and high-cost medication solutions, such as copay cards, grant foundations, and manufacturer assistance. Residents will engage in collaborative work with patients, clinics, pharmacies, payors, and manufacturers to understand and navigate barriers to medication access. Throughout the rotation, residents will develop skills in problem-solving, utilizing data and analytic tools to identify workflow optimization opportunities, strategic decision-making, and multidisciplinary collaboration, all within the context of improving patient outcomes and reducing financial toxicity.
The MAP team operates remotely, and this rotation will primarily, but not exclusively, be conducted in a virtual setting.
