Rotation Description
Inpatient Gynecologic Oncology
The inpatient gynecologic oncology rotation is a learning experience that integrates residents into a multidisciplinary team and exposes them to high acuity patients with a diverse group of disease states associated with gynecologic malignancy. This rotation focuses on the development of clinical pharmacy skills necessary to provide comprehensive medication management services with an emphasis on cancer directed therapy, supportive care and management of complications associated with gynecologic malignancy. Additionally, this rotation offers the opportunity to collaboratively precept pharmacy learners of all levels.
Service-based Staffing
This longitudinal service-based weekend staffing experience is designed for the Oncology PGY2 Pharmacy Resident to gain skills in the pharmacotherapeutic management of oncology patients through coverage of a variety of hematology/oncology and medicine services. Skills learned through this experience include detailed order review, order processing, pharmacokinetic dosing, chemotherapy monitoring, supportive care management, and chemotherapy counseling. Residents are required to gain experience in oncology staffing through coverage of the chemotherapy infusion clinic, the inpatient hematology/oncology shift (CS4), and the inpatient bone marrow transplant (BMT) shift (CS8). Orientation for each of these experiences is included during the orientation learning experience in the beginning of the residency year.
