Outpatient Oncology Palliative Care

Rotation Description:

The Outpatient Oncology Palliative Care rotation is a learning experience in which the resident will gain experience in the supportive management of patients with oncologic disorders. Knowledge of primary treatments, palliative care, pain management, and management of complications in patients with various malignancies will be emphasized. The resident will also gain experience in managing the unique emotional challenges associated with diseases of terminal prognosis and in supporting both patient and caregiver towards the goal of maximizing quality of life. The learner will also have the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team environment and work closely with palliative care physicians and advanced practice practitioners on drug information questions and palliative care treatment discussions.
