Rotation Title

Drug Shortages and Contracting

Rotation Description:

This rotation is located at the health-system Shared Services Center, which serves hospitals and clinics throughout the health-system. The purpose of this rotation is to provide the learner with experience in managing drug shortages and exposure to aspects of drug contracts and supply-chain management. These objectives will be achieved through completion of rotation projects, readings, topic discussions, and participation is multiple meetings throughout the month.

Rotation activities may include the following:

• Attending health-system strategic sourcing meetings
• Evaluating and/or implementing strategic drug contracts and relevant formulary changes
• Monitoring current and potential drug shortages
• Developing and/or implementing drug shortage management plans
• Participating in topic discussions pertinent to drug shortages
