Why UNC
I was fortunate enough to complete my rotations throughout pharmacy school at UNC Medical Center and from my first time in the hospital, I knew it was a special place. There is a certain buzz when you walk in that makes you know there is advancement in medicine going on all around you. The emphasis of teaching everywhere, especially in the pharmacy department, is something I was looking for in a residency program. There are so many opportunities to explore different interest areas, research projects, leadership, and so much more that hit every facet of residency I wanted. Not only is it a great program on paper and holds all these wonderful opportunities, but the people are really what make it special. All the preceptors, program directors, co-residents, faculty, all the way up to the administration make UNC home. They all look out for you as a person and not just as a resident.
My PGY1 year at UNC continued to showcase all of these aspects of the residency program and overall pharmacy department. I knew early on I wanted to pursue Critical Care, and I know this program will allow me to develop the skills to care for the critically ill at the top of my license, surrounded by those pushing pharmacy practice forward. I am so excited for what this year holds!
