Why UNC
UNC has been a pivotal institution in my development as a clinical pharmacist, from pharmacy school to my current role as a PGY2 Oncology resident. I was initially drawn to the PGY1 residency program because of the extensive inpatient and outpatient opportunities in both general and highly specialized areas of patient care, which provided me with the chance to become a well-rounded pharmacy practitioner. This remains true today as a PGY2 Oncology resident. What attracted me to the PGY2 Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy residency at UNC was the vast array of pharmacy involvement across different subspecialized oncology practices. The diversity of our pharmacists' roles in both outpatient and inpatient settings equips me with the skills needed to become a versatile oncology practitioner. Moreover, the advanced pharmacy practice environment in North Carolina allows me to work at the top of my license within an interdisciplinary, patient-centered team. Beyond clinical opportunities, the oncology program offers experiences such as staffing in our hazardous pharmacy and infusion clinic, allowing me to see the full spectrum of patient care in oncology. I am excited about the opportunity to continue my journey at UNC and contribute to the Tar Heel Pharmily!
